Background High-risk patients undergoing prophylactic mastectomy (PM) may have
unsuspected cancers identified on pathology. The optimum way to identify and manage
them is controversial. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may identify occult cancer
preoperatively. Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) allows intraoperative staging and
